Getting Ready for Florida

This is a good title for this post because we haven't started getting ready for the trip and we leave in less than two days. Plus we are going out both nights, today is valentines day, and tomorrow we baby sit Brayden for much of the day.  I would say we better get started. Now I say I haven't done a thing , that's not true. I have scouted out the good birding places in the Keys and Miami area. I have the houseboat reserved with two rooms for six of the 10 days. I have a stack of $2 bills for tips and 45 dollars stamped with "Where's George" so I can track them through the Internet. I have even found our snorkels and masks, but that is about it. And we have a car at a great price.

The houseboat is really the top floor of a large houseboat. Oh, lord, please let it be nice. I have seen these houseboats, but not the Crow's Nest which is the one we rented. The others are nice. Zosia and I convinced Lucky to come on down, but she was a little unsure. Finally she got a good ticket and a cheap car for her and Porter. I sure hope the facilities meet their needs and they have a good time at the place I selected. There is no lawn or playground - just a  boat and dock, kayaks, and canoes.

We are still up in the air about the last three days. Lucky wants to stay at the beach, but that is fairly pricy this time of year, so I opted for La Quinta on I-95 in Deerfield Beach for convenience to our old friends and Boca Raton/Delray.

We were going to stay at nephew Andrew's place but he has a plumbing problem so the guest shower floods his house. He's freaking out and says that he is to nervous to have us stay. I would like to look at it and hopefully fix it for him. So I am planning on staying there on Saturday even though he thinks we are not. If it is a big mess I can't fix, I will figure out where to stay on the fly. Actually all of us were going to stay there, but now we have to find hotels for the four nights. What's so hard about fixing a leaky bathroom? I guess we'll find out. It would be great if I could fix his bathroom and ease his mind.

So what do I need besides toothbrush, bathing suit, birding and swimming stuff?
- Beach towels
- Hats
- Sandles
- Ukulele and book
- Games Porter can play
- Art stuff
- Music and reading stuff
- dive booties and gloves
- Geocache stuff

OK, I am ready it seems - now I just have to scoop it all up and put it in a bag. I will pick up coolers and things like that down there.
